Blue oat grass blends with the burgundy leaves of the tree as does low growing Sedum kamtschaticum with bright yellow flowers in early summer. The area to the right of the tree contains low growers such as Snow-in -Summer, blue-eyed grass with its delicate bluish-purple blooms, Salvia 'Caradonna' and behind it, Persicaria polymorpha.
